I offer one to one sewing lessons either at my home, or if you are in the South West, I can come to you. I have three modern Husqvarna Viking machines to teach on and a lovely spacious working area. Whether you are a complete novice or just need a refresher, I can cover the very basics from making a cushion, or how to read a pattern, to more advanced dressmaking techniques.
This 3 hour workshop will cover the basics of how to use a sewing machine, measuring and cutting out your fabric and constructing your cushion cover.
You will need to bring 1 metre of your chosen fabric, matching thread and any trim required. I will supply a 16 inch cushion insert.
In this 2 hour workshop, we will cover the basics of how to read a commercial sewing pattern, how to measure for your size and how to cut out your fabric and transfer markings.
You will need to bring a pattern that you would like to work on and the fabric required as per the pattern instructions. Please note, I would recommend a beginners pattern for this workshop, and am happy to advise on some particular patterns that would be useful.
In this 6 hour workshop, you will create a personalised skirt pattern that is based on your measurements, cut out the pattern pieces and construct your skirt.
The workshop can be held in one day or over two 3 hour sessions.
You will need to bring 2 metres of your chosen fabric and matching thread. (I can advise suitable fabrics, prior to the class).
Visiting a fabric shop can seem very overwhelming and choosing the right fabric and pattern combination can be tricky when you are first starting out. In this 90 minute interactive session, I will act as your guide and personal shopping as we visit the fabric shops of Bristol where I will help you to pick the best fabric for your project. I will also help you to work out how fabrics can combine together and what other notions/haberdashery you will need.
