Build your Bodice, Top or Dress Pattern with Fina Makes

You’ve got your perfectly-fitting bodice block, now let’s turn it into something you will love to wear!

In this intensive weekend course, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your block into a top or dress of your dreams!
As a minimum, you’ll create the pattern and toile for your style.

This is an adhoc, learn-what-you-need kind of course; pattern cutting from scratch takes years to fully learn, so we’ll be focusing on the basic techniques you need to know to make your chosen style.
Some areas we could cover are: statement sleeves, collars, pleats, gathers, shaping the neckline, going sleeveless, bias cut… the list goes on and the content will really depend on who joins the class and what they want to make.

Suitable for folk who’ve used patterns before and have their own bodice block. All genders welcome.

Please bring:
An idea of what you’d like to make – an internet search, magazine clipping, a secret picture taken of your arch-frenemy at a family wedding… whatever floats your boat!
Your own personal bodice block –  if you haven’t done the bodice block course, a basic block will be provided but please be aware that this is a pattern drafting, not a fitting course – so the focus will be on pattern cutting techniques.

Timings: 10:30am – 5:30pm both days

All equipment, paper, card and calico is provided. If you have your own pattern making tools, and prefer to use them, then feel free to bring them along, otherwise, you’re all set!
